Idaho Pasture Pigs
Modern Idaho Pasture Pigs are a back-to-the-pasture breed that restores old fashioned performance on forage with hardiness, good size and gentle disposition. Minimal propensity to root. Idaho Pasture Pigs are calm, friendly and easier to work. Excellent mothering. High quality meat. Nearly zero odor from their manure- really! You can expect mature live weights of 400 pounds for sows and 450 pounds for boars. Somewhat smaller litter sizes and lower to grow to finish weight (perhaps 50%) than standard grain-dependent breeds, but we think this is a fair trade for essentially zero odor, superior carcass conformation, great disposition and reduced costs due to pasture utilization.
